| Our infamous ‘MANGROVE VIPER Cuff / June 2009 |
|
For the Rising Gems collection, each designer created a one-off piece that was sponsored by ENLIGHTENED™ - Swarovski Elements, and inspired by the World Land Trust charity’s conservation projects around the world.
Our ‘Mangrove Viper’ cuff was inspired by the marine reserve and wildlife sanctuary on Danjugan Island, in the Philippines, which is home to some stunning coral reef and mangroves. We wanted to capture the organic, unruly and finger like patterns of this wildlife in our cuff design and thought that the mangrove viper made a menacing but magnificent centrepiece. Although we did allow for some artistic license by adding some edgy spikes to the viper which don’t really exist!
As it was a one-off piece, we were really sad to see it go, although we were thrilled it sold within the first 5 minutes of the launch event at Liberty! Still my mother rather wanted to keep it, and is still trying to persuade us to make another just for her!
